Chinese Wood-Fired Pottery

Chinese Wood-Fired Pottery

Coarse pottery: pottery made from clay that contains a relatively high amount of sand and iron.
As for when and who invented it, no one really knows. But one thing is certain, that is, ceramics must have been invented after humans learned to use fire. They accidentally discovered that clay becomes very hard and no longer dissolves in a solid shape after being burned by fire, so they learned to make pottery. From then on, human life has been inseparable from ceramics.
"Ceramics" refers to all ceramics in a broad sense, that is, all kinds of products made of clay or clay mixtures after forming and firing. The usual classification method is that the body contains a high iron oxide content, is dark red, and the firing temperature is below 1250℃.Judging from the existing archaeological data, it is no problem to conclude that China's primitive pottery began about 8,000 years ago.
At present, our company still adheres to this ancient pottery making technique. Why do we insist on this technique? Why do we pursue wood-fired pottery? Because wood-fired pottery is difficult to control and has high manpower and material costs, it is undoubtedly a challenge for pottery creators. However, the rich and restrained rustic feeling of wood-fired pottery, "fire marks" and "gray glaze", often produce unexpected effects on the works. Each piece of pottery is unique and fascinating.
